BREAKING WEATHER REPORT! Wii U’s MiiVerse is the most adorable thing ever

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

Alright, I finally got a Wii U and plugged it in, and discovered a whole world in there! I’ve never really used the Tweeter or the FacePlace, so maybe this sort of thing is old Internet news by now, but it’s new and adorable to me! Here are some of our favorite notes and drawings on the Little Inferno MiiVerse community we’ve seen so far. Also, anyone know how to take screenshots other than pointing our camera phones at the screen?

Wii U version now available in Europe and Australia! Also, this helpful FAQ.

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

The Wii U released in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand over the weekend and is now taking those continents by storm.  Did anyone manage to get one? Since we don’t have a European Wii U we haven’t seen Little Inferno looks on the eShop, but I imagine it’s slightly more sophisticated.  Probably due to the fact that it’s available in 5 languages.

In other news, if you’re playing the PC version and want to change your language, vsync, or audio settings then go to this useful FAQ.

InfernoFans Community & Forum Alive

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Davidc has just built an awesome Little Inferno fansite and community. There’s a forum, database of items and catalogs, and a clever Combo Hint system should you need a little nudge deciphering the last few combos. I believe their combined brains will also soon crack the code to allow the game to be modified.

Time for more reviews! This one that’s been getting passed around from Negative World is especially interesting:

I questioned whether Little Inferno could be considered a proper game or not, and I don’t have a definitive answer to that question. Whatever you want to call it, it is definitely a unique and daring piece of software. Read the full review>>

Little Inferno Wii U Header

Little Inferno is finally officially released! The final 1.0 version is available for download / update at the following locations:

  • Uncle Sam Bam BamTomorrow Corporation (Windows now, Mac/Linux unlock later)
You can get it here. If you already got the game and would like to update to the final build, just re-download from the Humble Store. If you lost your download link, you can always retrieve it here. This purchase also comes with a Steam key.
  • Steam (Windows now, Mac/Linux unlock later)
You can also get the game directly on Steam. (Should be final in 2 or 3 hours, if not already by the time you read this.)
  • Nintendo Wii U eShop (Wii U)
You can get the Wii U version directly from your brand new Wii U console!

The Mac and Linux versions are still in progress, but let us know if you’d like to join a beta for either platform.

MEANWHILE, we’ve had no idea what players would think of this weird game, so it’s a relief to start seeing reviews come in like this one from JayIsGames:

“But what really makes Little Inferno work, more than its striking original design and simple addictive gameplay, is its clever storytelling. I bought Little Inferno for myself because after reading all the information and watching the trailers, I still wasn’t sure what it was all about. I sat down to play it to evaluate it, and couldn’t quite pull myself away from it until I finished it hours later. If you’re not going for 100% combo completion, you can likely spend around four hours or more on it, but in that period of time Little Inferno manages to convey a surprisingly affecting story and some unexpected emotion. I may have possibly considered the notion of maybe tearing up a little bit at the end. It’s beautiful, sneaky, strange, and with a style all its own, and serves up its addictively simple gameplay with a dose of heart to boot. Little Inferno is the sort of game that sneaks up on you, and if its striking atmosphere and intriguing concepts draw you in, it’ll keep you warm as long as you park yourself in front of the hearth. Just don’t forget… you can go as far as you want.” Full review here >>

WiiU eShop

Wii U is now available for those in North and South America, and apparently it’s been doing really well so far. And what a surreal thing to see our game on it too! Has anyone tried a Wii U yet? None of us actually have one yet, and two of us are in Europe where we can’t buy one for a few more weeks. (Nope, being a developer doesn’t get you free consoles. Fun fact.)

MEANWHILE, Nintendo World Report has just posted one of the more in-depth interviews about Little Inferno we’ve done so far.
